I used to have all kinds of trouble with my headset. You see, in my line of work I have to use a microphone a lot. Not only do I talk on the phone quite frequently, but I also dictate many of my projects. Using dictation software to decode my voice, I can get a much better rate than when I type things up by hand. The problem was that I was always tripping over the cord or pulling it out of the computer. My headsets would not last very long, needless to say, and my audio quality would quickly deteriorate.
That was why it was so nice to get a wireless headset. Wireless headsets really make a huge difference if you do anything involving communication. A wire isn’t just an inconvenience. If you use your headset for hours a day, having a wire is really a liability. It limits how far you can move, decreasing your productivity. It can also trip you up quite easily, or work as a tripwire when other coworkers are passing by. An extra wire is never a welcome addition to an office, so if you can eliminate one, you should.
Another good thing about wireless headsets is that they tend to have very good sound quality. Your typical wireless headset is not cheap. You can buy a normal telephone headset for 20 dollars or less, but a pretty good wireless headset will cost you more like 200 dollars. With its price, however, comes excellent quality. You will get unparalleled sound reception that won’t degrade with wear and tear on the cable.
Of course, a wireless headset is not for everyone. Some people just don’t do a good job keeping their headsets in good shape. If this describes you to a tee, you probably shouldn’t get a wireless headset. They are expensive and difficult to replace, after all, and almost impossible to service. Similarly, if you always lose things, a wireless headset is probably not the best option. It is much easier to lose than one plugged into your computer. Similarly, if you talk for more than four hours a day on your headphones, you probably shouldn’t get a wireless setup. You’ll have to recharge the battery, which can be time consuming. Nonetheless, it is still an option that is worth considering for most people. It can be an invaluable tool in the office or home business.
