Since I’m not exactly a hardcore gamer, I can’t bring myself to spend upwards of $300 on an Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or Nintendo Wii gaming platform. I know that if I ever bought one of those systems, it would just end up collecting dust most days. That’s why I prefer instead to play free online interactive games whenever I need a quick gaming fix.

Sure, most online interactive games don’t have all of the fancy graphics, expensive voice actors, or complex storylines that you’d normally find in popular software titles, but “free” is the key word here! There’s still a lot of fun to be had with these online interactive games, so I think they’re definitely worth a look.

Many people don’t realize just how many different online interactive games there are to choose from. If you like puzzles, then you can play Sudoku, Tetris, and Scrabble, just to name a few. If you’re into cards, you can settle in for a long night of Texas Hold ‘em, Blackjack, Bridge, Canasta, or Gin. If you prefer more action-oriented online interactive games, then I’d suggest playing one of the first-person shooter or car racing titles that are currently available.

Besides this wide range of genres, I also like online interactive games because they give me a chance to meet new people. Many of the game types I mentioned above require at least two players, which provides a perfect opening for conversation and friendship. I’ve gained a lot of friends by inviting newcomers to join my table, and I absolutely love this aspect of Internet gaming.

Where can you go to access all of this fun? There are a bunch of websites out there that host free online interactive games, so finding them through your favorite search engine in pretty easy. Depending on which site you end up at, you will likely have to deal with some level of advertising to support the free gameplay. These ads range from the typical blinking banners and pop-ups to more intrusive audio or video commercials that come on every once in a while. They’re a bit annoying at times, but I can understand why they’re necessary.

I think online interactive games present a terrific alternative for people who aren’t into traditional home gaming systems. They’re free, they give you a way to join a community and meet new people, and there’s a huge selection of game types to choose from. What more could a casual gamer want?
