How many of us love the idea of working for ourselves? I know I do. I mean, calling my own shots, working when I want to, taking vacations when I want, wearing what I want. All of these things are very, very, enticing when it comes to working for yourself. But as much freedom as it can bring, there are some cost you need to count before taking that leap.
First off, your paycheck is determined solely by you! Meaning, while you have the freedom to work when you want, you don’t work, you don’t get paid. And depending on what type of business you want to start, we can be talking about some pretty hefty start-up cost going on here. So, going into business for yourself will definitely require a lot of discipline. There will be no one checking up on you, to make sure you complete the required tasks. Just you and all your quirks! I know, I have many.
But, on the flipside, your paycheck is determined solely by you! Ha ha, no, I’m not losing my mind. To me, being independently responsible for your own income is very exciting. Knowing that what you do, and how you work, has a DIRECT IMPACT on how much money you will make is very liberating. Most times, you income is only limited by you. You put in the work, you get paid, you repeat the process.
So while it sounds like a dream come true, you must understand that dream comes with a price, but, the reward of working for yourself is worth way more than the price of admission. If you are considering going into business for yourself, do you research, count up the cost, and start part-time. Unless you have the monetary ability to leave your full-time job while you start a business, most people start part-time. This is what I suggest.
