You can read book after book about marriage advice, but there are just some things that you have to learn on your own. When we marry, we are all about the vows, but that is when things are better, we are healthy, and for the most part, poor is not really an issue. It is very easy to make a commitment when you are early in love and everything is spinning around you. However, commitment means sticking it out, even when you aren?t sure you like each other at the moment.

The best marriage advice can come from some books. The problem is finding the right books. There are good ones out there for just about everyone, but not all styles will fit all people. There are books about marriage advice with a religious tone, and there are some that concentrate only on one issue like how to stop fighting or how to agree on child rearing issues. It might take some searching to find a book that gives advice about marriage that both you and your spouse are comfortable with following.

You may find that getting marriage advice from your relatives in hard. They may be giving it to you before you marry, and when that happens, I would bet you are doing your best to ignore it. You may even be smiling and nodding, but all the while thinking that this will never apply to you.

You, after all, will live happily ever after. What you should be doing is listening to this marriage advice very carefully because there is going to be something in there that you are going to use in the future. In fact, you may look back one day and wish you had listened harder.

Don?t worry though, most want to think only positive things when they first marry, and not listening to advice is common. That is why there are so many different places where you can find the same advice. If you don?t think books are right for you, and you find you are in a position that is unique to your family and friends, you may want to see a therapist. There are some great marital therapist out there that give great marriage advice, and can get you and your spouse talking about what is wrong and how to fix it. No one teaches us how to be married, as it is something we learn as we go. Getting a little help is nothing to be ashamed of in any way.
