My husband watches the Food Network all of the time. I feed him well, so I?m not sure what he is looking for. As it turns out, he used to cook in restaurants, though he would never call himself a chef. He is always looking for new meal ideas, and he says that he learns a lot from the Food Network. He loves to cook, which is fine by me, and I often wonder if he wishes he had gone to school to become a chef. Perhaps he thought he wouldn?t enjoy it in the long run, but I have a suspicion that he would have, and would have also been very good at it. He is good at everything he does, so this would not have been an exception.

If you want to become a chef, don?t panic. I know that when I think about cooking something amazing I am sure I would never know how to do it. The basics of becoming a chef are not as hard as I thought they once were. I found this out because I had roommates in college that were going through culinary school. They told me that learning about the basic tastes of food and how they can go together is much simpler than one could imagine. It is never totally easy, but the secrets are not all that hard to master if you set your mind and your taste buds to it.

Once you know about how to mix and match tastes, you can then start to come up with your own dishes. This is an important part of learning to become a chef. If you do not get how to mix and match, you are going to be stuck making the same old dishes that you already know. If you want to have any type of success, and if you want to be hired in high end restaurants, you are going to have to come up with your own unique dishes. If you know the basic sauces, how to blend tastes, and how to use your intuition about ingredients, you are going to be just fine.

To become a chef, you are probably going to want to go to a culinary school. For the most part, these programs are about two years long, and offer you a degree. There are probably more advanced degrees out there as well. Not everyone who wants to become a chef starts out this way, however, as they have had experience working with a chef on their own time. If you work with someone who is willing to teach you what they know, you may not need school, or you may find that you don?t have to take the full two years to learn what you need to know.
